Stamming: Prognose

Hos ca. 80% av barna opphører stammingen før de blir voksne. Sannsynligheten for å kunne bli kvitt uønsket atferd forbundet med stamming, avtar hvis stammingen består etter 8 års alder. Selv om det ikke finnes noen sikker behandling som virke for alle, er vellykket eliminering av mild stamming mulig når behandlingen startes før 6 års alder. For alle personer som stammer, avhenger et godt resultat av en passende kombinasjon av opplæring, trening og individualiserte behandlingsopplegg.
