Mikroskopisk kolitt: Behandling

Tilstanden går i mange tilfeller over av seg selv, og behandling med medikamenter er ofte unødvendig. Ved mindre plager forsøkes gjerne antidiaremidlet loperamid (Imodium), et middel som kan hjelpe noen. Ved plagsomme og langvarige symptomer er førstevalget budesonid, som er det eneste midlet med klart dokumentert effekt. En behandling som kan vare inntil åtte uker. Mange får tilbakefall etter avsluttet kur, og det kan være aktuelt med vedlikeholdsbehandling med budesonid i lavere doser.
