Helicobacter pylori: Magesår

Vi regner at cirka 15-20 prosent av dem som er infiserte med Helicobacter pylori, får magesår. Cirka 1 prosent kan få kreft i magesekken. Med andre ord, de aller fleste som er infiserte, får ikke magesår (eller magekreft). Hvorfor noen får sår og andre ikke, har vi begrenset kunnskap om. Arvelige faktorer, røyking og stress synes å være viktige medvirkende faktorer.
