Kreft i magesekken

Kreft i magesekken rammer helst eldre personer. Sykdommen gir som regel lite symptomer i tidlige faser, slik at diagnosen ofte stilles sent, noe som gir dårligere prognose.

Alle årsakene til kreft i magesekken er ikke kjent, men noen kjenner vi: Infeksjon med Helicobacter pylori, kostvaner - for eksempel mye salt og røkt mat, en livsstil med mye alkohol og tobakk.

Magesekken, anatomi og funksjon

Magesekken, ventrikkelen, er et hult organ som ligger i bukhulens øvre del, rett under mellomgulvet. Størrelse og form varierer fra person til person. Formen kan minne om en stor "J". Magesekken er bygd opp av kraftige muskler, og på innsiden er den kledd med slimhinne. Oppad går magesekken over i spiserøret. Nedad går den over i tolvfingertarmen. Magesekken produserer hver dag ca 2 liter magesaft som skal hjelpe til å bryte ned maten vi spiser.
