Utviklingen av kronisk hepatitt B

Vi skiller mellom flere utviklingsfaser av kronisk hepatitt B. Den første fasen oppstår den første tiden etter at du er blitt smittet og representerer det vi kaller inkubasjonstiden - det vil si tiden fra du smittes til sykdommen bryter ut. I denne fasen kan du ha høye verdier av HBeAg og HBV DNA, mens leverfunksjonsprøvene (transaminasene) er normale.

I den neste fasen oppstår betennelse i leveren, noe vi kan oppdage ved at transaminasene (ASAT og ALAT) er forhøyet. Hvis denne fasen varer lengre enn seks måneder, har du kronisk HBV-infeksjon. Serologiske prøver viser at du både er HBsAg-positiv og anti-HBc-IgG-positiv. Du er bærer av viruset, og du kan smitte andre.
