Diagnostikk av knuterosen

Diagnosen stilles på bakgrunn av de typiske symptomene som foreligger med karakteristiske knuter i huden. Det er ofte nødvendig med undersøkelse av hele kroppen for å påvise eventuelle underliggende årsaker. Det er også aktuelt å ta blodprøver og bakterieprøver fra hals og eventuelt avføring. Tuberkulinprøve kan være aktuelt. I tillegg anbefales det å ta røntgenbilde av lunger og brystkassen for å se om det kan foreligge tuberkulose eller sarkoidose.

Om det skal foretas ytterligere utredning, som for eksempel vevsprøve av huden, vil avhenge av om man finner en forklaring på symptomene.
