Hyperventilasjonsanfall

  • Tilstanden virker dramatisk, men er egentlig ufarlig
  • Har du eller den du behandler hatt dette før, er det viktig å berolige pasienten, fortelle at han/hun overpuster
  • Prøv og få pasienten til å slappe av og puste rolig - be vedkommende puste med magen
  • Har du opplevd dette før, vil du gjenkjenne anfallet, og du kan ofte stanse anfallet selv ved å overtale deg selv til å puste rolig selv om du opplever lufthunger og egentlig ønsker å dra pusten dypt
  • Dersom anfallet ikke kan stanses ved beroligelse, er det fornuftig å forsøke å puste ut og inn i en pose som holdes løst foran munnen. Derved får en pustet tilbake noe av all den ekstra kulldioksyden som pustes ut
