Tvangslidelse: Diagnose

Diagnosen stilles på bakgrunn av legens intervju med pasienten, samt eventuelle observasjoner av vedkommende. Videre gjøres som regel kroppsundersøkelse for å utelukke underliggende sykdom i andre organer.

Følgende tre spørsmål stilles gjerne for å klargjøre om det foreligger tvangslidelse. Bekreftende svar på et av disse spørsmålene gir sterke holdepunkter for diagnosen:

  • "Har du tanker som stadig kommer tilbake, som gjør deg nervøs og som du ikke klarer å bli kvitt uansett hvor hardt du prøver?"
  • "Holder du ting ekstremt rene eller vasker du hendene svært ofte?"
  • "Må du sjekke og kontrollere ting mer enn andre?"
