For de aller fleste er prognosen god, og synet blir like godt som før, eller nesten like godt. Noen opplever svekket fargesyn.

For de hvor tilstanden blir kronisk, er prognosen mer usikker, og tilstanden kan medføre betydelig og permanent svekket skarpsyn.
