Tilfriskning etter en episode med akutt nyresvikt avhenger av årsaken til sykdommen. Hvis årsaken ikke innebærer en skade mot selve nyrevevet, vil du sannsynligvis bli helt frisk igjen. Delvis gjenopprettelse av nyrefunksjonen kan forekomme i de tilfeller der skaden ikke går helt tilbake.
