Kan forkjølelse forebygges?

Vaksinasjon? Den store antallet virus som kan forårsake forkjølelse, gjør at vaksinasjon ikke er mulig.

C-vitamin? Resultatene spriker, men noen studier kan tyde på at oppstart med vitamin C før symptomene på forkjølelse kommer, kan redusere sykdomsvarigheten og symptomintensiteten. Tegn til en liten forebyggende effekt er påvist hos idrettsfolk, og ikke i den generelle befolkningen.

Solhatt? Vitenskapelige studier viser at solhatt ikke forebygger forkjølelse, men noen studier viser en mulig, liten symptomlindrende effekt dersom man har blitt forkjøla.

Gurgling av vann? I en studie fant forskerne at gurgling med vann i 1 minutt 3 ganger daglig i 60 dager hadde en viss forebyggende effekt mot forkjølelse (!).
