Hvordan behandles psoriasis?

Behandling av psoriasis kan ikke helbrede sykdommen, men det finnes en rekke tiltak som kan få hudplagene til å gå tilbake og holde sykdommen i sjakk.

Behandling av psoriasis består av en rekke ulike preparater, blant annet i form av salver, kremer, tabletter, liniment eller i sprøyteform.

Generelt om behandling av psoriasis

Det finnes ingen kur som gir varig helbredelse av psoriasis. Derimot finnes det en rekke tiltak som kan få hudplagene til å gå tilbake og holde sykdommen i sjakk. For at resultatet skal bli vellykket, er det nødvendig at du selv tar ansvar for behandlingen. Egenbehandling, som blant annet består av god hudpleie, sol- og badeferier, er et viktig grunnlag som du bør gjennomføre regelmessig. I perioder med oppblussing av symptomene vil de fleste ha behov for å bruke legemidler. Det finnes en rekke ulike medisiner mot psoriasis, og hvilken type du skal bruke, avhenger blant annet av hvilken type psoriasis du har, hvor på kroppen du har sykdommen, og hvor intens den er. Medikamentene finnes i ulike varianter. Noen brukes som krem eller salve, andre som væske (liniment), mens noen tas som tabletter eller i sprøyteform.

Målet med all behandling av psoriasis er å lindre plagene, holde sykdommen under kontroll over tid, og forhindre at den går ut over livskvaliteten. Samtidig ønsker man at bivirkningene skal være små eller ubetydelige.

Deler av psoriasisbehandlingen kan styres av fastlegen din. Noen ganger kan det imidlertid bli nødvendig at hudleger har hovedansvaret. En sjelden gang kan det også være nødvendig med innleggelse ved spesialavdeling på sykehus.
