Ulike typer psoriasis

Det finnes en rekke ulike undergrupper av psoriasis. Noen pasienter har bare en av formene, mens mange har en kombinasjon av flere typer.

Kronisk plakkpsoriasis

Dette er den vanligste formen for psoriasis, den kalles også psoriasis vulgaris, og utgjør cirka 90 prosent av alle tilfellene. Kronisk plakkpsoriasis begynner vanligvis som små flekker. Flekkene vokser gradvis i størrelse og får en sølvhvit, skjellende skorpe. Det er disse elementene dekket med skorpe som kalles plakk. Dersom en skorpe løsner eller rives av huden, ses små, knappenålshodestore blødninger under (det er imidlertid viktig at du ikke river av plakkene, ettersom dette kan forverre tilstanden).

Plakkene vil vanligvis tilta i størrelse en tid, for så å bli mindre og etterhvert forsvinne. Av og til fortsetter de å vokse, inntil mange plakkområder flyter sammen og dekker større områder av kroppen.

Plakkene opptrer vanligvis symmetrisk, det vil si på de samme steder på begge kroppshalvdeler. De vanligste stedene er over strekkesiden av ledd, særlig over albuen og kneet. Andre steder er ryggen, hodebunnen, fingerknokene, håndflatene, fotsålene, leggene og kjønnsorganene.

De fleste pasientene med denne typen psoriasis vil ha et svingende forløp av sykdommen. De kan være bra i lange perioder, særlig dersom de driver god egenbehandling. Andre perioder kan preges av akutt forverring og plagsomme symptomer. Slike dårlige perioder utløses ofte av stress, infeksjoner, kaldt klima eller lignende.
