Hvordan vet jeg at jeg har insulinresistens?
Det finnes ingen enkel prøve som kan si at du har insulinresistens syndrom. Hvis en eller flere av følgende faktorer gjelder for deg, kan legen mistenke at du har insulinresistens syndrom:

- En eller flere av dine søsken eller foreldre har fått diagnosen diabetes type 2
- Du har hatt diabetes (eller forhøyet blodsukker) under svangerskap
- Du har fått påvist tilstanden polycystisk ovariesyndrom (PCO)
- Du har et blodsukkernivå som ikke er høyt nok til å si at du har diabetes, men det er høyere enn normalt. Det betyr at du har økt risiko for å få diabetes
- Du er overvektig
- Du har mer fett rundt midjen enn rundt hoftene. Det vil si at om du måler omkretsen, er den større rundt midjen enn rundt hoftene/baken.
