Nedkjøling (hypotermi): Symptomer

Symptomene utvikler seg vanligvis langsomt. En nedkjølt person opplever typisk gradvis tap av evnen til å tenke klart og til å bevege seg. Vedkommende kan derfor være uvitende om behovet for førstehjelp. Alvorlig hypotermi kan medføre død.

Temperatur mellom 35 - 32°C

Kroppen forsøker å gjenopprette temperaturen ved hjelp av skjelvinger og sammentrekning av blodkar i hud. Man skjelver ukontrollert, puls og blodtrykk øker, pustefrekvensen tiltar.

Temperatur under 32°C

Alle kroppsfunksjoner nedreguleres gradvis. Stoffskiftet reduseres, du forbruker mindre oksygen og produserer mindre karbondioksyd (CO2). Skjelvingen avtar, hjertets arbeid reduseres og pulsen går ned. Blodet sirkulerer saktere, risikoen for blodpropp øker, risikoen for hjertestans øker betydelig og til slutt vil åndedrettet stoppe.
