Forstoppelse

Forstoppelse er en av de mest utbredte plager i befolkningen. Tilstanden arter seg som treg, hard og/eller sjelden avføring. Den rammer særlig kvinner, eldre, fysisk inaktive, de med fiberfattig kost.

Hva er forstoppelse?

Forstoppelse defineres som treg, hard eller sjelden avføring. Problemet er omfattende blant eldre mennesker og er tre ganger så vanlig blant kvinner som menn. 20% av befolkningen har forstoppelse og 10% bruker avføringsmidler.

Det er ikke noe skarpt skille mellom hva som er normal og hva som er unormal avføring. Man regner at det bare er ca. 30% av oss som har helt regelmessig avføring med en daglig tømning til fast tid. Selv om det går flere dager mellom hver tømning, behøver ikke det å være unormalt. Det avgjørende er om du opplever plager og ubehag på grunn av treg, hard eller sjelden avføring.
