For mange byr den manglende kontrollen over avføringen på store sosiale problemer. Det er plagsomt å alltid måtte være på vakt for lukt og ubehag. Og mange blir sittende mye hjemme i frykt for "ulykker". Det positive er at mange kan hjelpes, men det kan ta noe tid å finne fram til det beste behandlingsalternativet for hver enkelt.
