Analkreft: Diagnostikk
Sykdommen oppdages ved at det blør fra endetarmen og man kan etter hvert kjenne en kul. Noen har også smerter. Andre symptomer kan være lekkasje av avføring og slim, kløe eller sårhet rundt analåpningen.
Ved undersøkelsen vil legen inspisere anus og kjenne opp i analkanalen. Ofte vil det da være klart for legen at det dreier seg om en ondartet svulst. Svulsten er gjerne hard og ruglete, og det kan gå an å kjenne hvordan svulsten vokser inn i omliggende vev. Noen ganger hender det at funnene er så uklare at de mistolkes som hemoroider.
Svulsten undersøkes nøye med rektoskopi (legen titter inn i analkanalen og endetarmen) og det tas vevsprøver (biopsier) fra svulsten. Mikroskopi av vevsbitene gir en sikker diagnose. Ved påvist analkreft gjøres også andre undersøkelser som ultralyd av analkanalen, CT av magen, MR av bekkenhulen og røntgen av lungene.
