GIST: Symptomer og tegn

Det er stor variasjon i symptomer avhengig av hvor i mage-tarmsystemet svulsten oppstår, samt hvor stor den er. Det kan forekomme blødning og magesmerter. I enkelte tilfeller kan man kjenne svulsten ved å kjenne utenpå magen. Nesten 1/3 av svulstene oppdages tilfeldig under en operasjon for annen sykdom.
