GIST: Forløp og prognose
For ondartede svulster som ikke kan fjernes ved operasjon, er framtidsutsiktene ikke så gode. Overlevelsen er i snitt 60 måneder etter at man fikk påvist svulsten. Dersom svulsten lar seg fjerne, eller det viser seg at det er en godarted svulst, kan overlevelsen være svært god.
