Bronkitt, akutt: Prognose

Akutt bronkitt går som oftest over av seg selv, men det tar gjerne flere uker før du blir kvitt hosten. Ja, noen ganger tar det mer enn en måned.

Bronkitt kan unntaksvis utvikle seg til en lungebetennelse. Infeksjonen sitter da lenger ned i luftveiene, i selve lungevevet. Du bør kontakte lege dersom allmenntilstanden blir dårligere, dersom du i forløpet utvikler høy feber eller blir tiltakende tungpustet.

En akutt bronkitt er en ukomplisert sykdom. Personer som røyker har sårbare slimhinner i bronkiene, og kan oppleve gjentatte bronkitter. Røykere har også betydelig økt risiko for å utvikle kronisk bronkitt og KOLS.
