Bronkitt, akutt: Årsaker

Akutt bronkitt skyldes i rundt 90% av tilfellene virusinfeksjoner. Bare i sjeldne tilfeller er bakterier årsak til denne sykdommen. Sigarettrøyking og luftforurensinger i husholdet (for eksempel dårlig fungerende ovn, forbrenning av biobrensler) gir økt risiko for å utvikle akutt bronkitt.
