Enterovirusinfeksjoner: Diagnostikk

De fleste enterovirus kan påvises ved laboratorieanalyser i sykehus, enten ved at man påviser viruset i avføringen, i ryggmargsvæske eller i prøve fra svelget. Eventuelt kan man i laboratorier også dyrke fram viruset. En nøyaktig påvisning av viruset gjøres som regel kun i de tilfellene der sykdom fører til innleggelse i sykehus.
