COVID-19, coronavirus: Symptomer og tegn
De vanligste symptomene på covid-19 er hoste (vanligvis tørrhoste), feber, tung pust og nyoppståtte lukt- eller smaksforstyrrelser. Tiden fra smittetidspunkt inntil symptomer oppstår (inkubasjonstid) er vanligvis fire til fem dager og innen ti dager hos de aller fleste. Det er stor variasjon i forhold til symptomer og forløp.
Noen får ikke symptomer i det hele tatt, mens andre får symptomer på vondt i halsen, forkjølelse, lett hoste, feber, hodepine, muskelsmerte, magesmerte, eventuelt diaré. Noen får alvorlige symptomer som tung pust i hvile, brystsmerter, forvirring, åndenød og sjokk.
Hos personer med kjent allergisk luftveissykdom, som for eksempel pollenallergi, vil avvik fra personens vanlige symptomer vektlegges i vurderingen opp mot covid-19. Det samme gjelder kroniske luftveissykdommer som kols eller astma. Ved tvil bør man ha en lav terskel for å teste seg mot covid-19.
