Svetting: Komplikasjoner

Sopp trives best i varme og fuktige miljø, og neglesopp er nok vanligere hos dem som svetter mye. Det samme gjelder også fotsopp og soppinfeksjoner andre steder på huden (skrittet er et av de vanligste stedene).

Økt svetting kan også forårsake bakterielle infeksjoner, særlig rundt hårsekkene.

Du kan få varmeutslett. Dette er en tilstand som oppstår når utførselsgangene fra svettekjertlene blokkeres, og tilstanden opptrer oftest i varmt og fuktig vær. Den kjennetegnes av små røde kuler som vanligvis kommer på øvre del av ryggen, brystet eller på armene.

Svetter du for lite, så kan det også være et problem. Dersom du ikke oppnår tilstrekkelig nedkjøling under trening i varmt vær, kan det føre til heteslag. Tegn på at et heteslag kan være under oppseiling, er besvimelsestendens, kvalme, hurtige hjerteslag, askegrått utseende og varm, tørr hud. Opplever du slike tegn, bør du prøve å senke temperaturen din hurtigst mulig gjennom å oppsøke skygge og drikke kjølig (ikke kald) drikke. Heteslag er en livstruende tilstand som må tas på alvor. I tillegg til unge idrettsutøvere er barn og eldre, samt overvektige, i økt fare for å utvikle heteslag.
