Prognose ved pityriasis versicolor

Spontan bedring av pityriasis versicolor er uvanlig, og sykdommen vil vedvare i årevis dersom den forblir ubehandlet. Med riktig behandling er prognosen god. Tilbakefall er likevel vanlig og forebyggende behandling som foreslått over, kan være fornuftig. Vi regner at 60 prosent får tilbakefall det første året og hos totalt 80 prosent etter to år. Forebyggende behandling vil redusere tilbakefallsrisikoen betydelig.
