Arrdanning, overdreven, keloid: Årsak
Dersom det er stort spenn mellom sårkantene på et nyoppstått sår, disponerer det for utvikling av overdreven arrdanning. For eksempel sår som gaper og som det er vanskelig å trekke sammen eller holde sammen. Det har vist seg at yngre personer, som har strammere hud enn eldre, langt hyppigere utvikler overdreven arrdanning. I sår med stor overflate, for eksempel brannskader, trekker såret seg sammen, det skrumper, og dermed øker strekket i huden i det tilhelende området - noe som kan medføre økt arrdanning.
Det er viktig å være klar over at arrene tilpasser seg over ett til to år, og først etter den tid kan man fastslå hvordan det endelige resultatet vil bli.
