Tørr, irritert hud har lett for å bli infisert (angrepet av bakterier). Infisert hud er rød, varm og hoven, og den kan også skille ut væske, eventuelt puss. Du kan trenge antibiotika for å bli kvitt denne type infeksjon.

Kraftig kløe, særlig hos eldre mennesker, kan noen ganger skyldes en alvorlige medisinsk tilstand. Ta kontakt med lege dersom en eldre person med hissig kløe ikke blir bedre i løpet av to uker, og man ikke har noen god forklaring på tilstanden.
