Forebyggende behandling av nyreskade ved diabetes
Hovedmålet med diabetesbehandlingen er å forebygge organskader, deriblant nyreskade. Dersom det påvises små mengder albumin i urinen, som er et tegn på begynnende nyreskade, er målet å forhindre forverring og utvikling av alvorlig nyreskade.
Grunnlaget for forebygging av diabetisk nefropati er behandling av kjente risikofaktorer som høyt blodsukker, høyt blodtrykk, høyt kolesterol og røyking. Ved overvekt er vektreduksjon også nyttig.
Behandlingen av blodsukkeret har som mål å holde langtidsblodsukkeret (HbA1c) omkring 7%. Behandlingen av blodtrykket har som mål å få blodtrykket ned til 135/85 mmHg.
Det er også viktig å forhindre at du får urinveisinfeksjoner, og at du ikke bruker medisiner som kan skade nyrene.
Gjennom slik forebyggende behandling hindres utviklingen av nyreskade. Det reduserer også risikoen for hjerte- og karsykdommer hos pasienter med type 1- og 2-diabetes.
