Hypereosinofile syndromer: Årsaker

Noen tilfeller av hypereosinofilt syndrom forblir uoppklarte og der man ikke finner noen årsak til tilstanden (idiopatisk). I andre tilfeller foreligger feil på arveanleggene (kromosomendringer) eller feil i det systemet som produserer hvite blodlegemer. I dag kjenner vi den spesifikke årsaken til flere av formene for hypereosinofili, men det er usikkert hvilken andel av pasienter med uforklarlig hypereosinofili som kan knyttes til disse årsakene, fordi vi mangler god diagnostikk til å identifisere disse pasientene.
