Allergivaksinering: Bivirkninger

Bivirkning av tablett eller dråper er svært beskjedne. Man kan oppleve litt kløe eller ubehag i munnhule eller svelg, noen opplever magesmerter. Men plagene avtar vanligvis raskt og går over i løpet av få uker. Det er en ørliten risiko for at medisinen kan utløse en kraftig allergireaksjon - derfor gis første dose hos lege. Dersom første dose tåles, er det trygt å fortsette med medisinen hjemme.

Ved sprøytebehandling kan du bli rød, få hevelse (elveblest) eller lette smerter på sprøytestedet. Disse symptomene kommer gjerne 20 til 30 minutter etter at sprøyten er satt og kan vedvare til neste dag. Etter hver injeksjon må du vente med å dra og være til observasjon i minimum 30 minutter, slik at man ser at du ikke får en kraftigere reaksjon. 

Vanligvis er det ikke påkrevd med behandling. Noen anbefaler å lindre plagene med å kjøle ned sprøytestedet med f.eks. en ispakke og ta en allergitablett (antihistamin). Noen ganger vil allergenmengden i den neste dosen bli redusert, dersom du reagerte mer enn vanlig på den forrige dosen. Informer legen om reaksjonen din. Alle reaksjoner som varer lengre enn 24 timer, må rapporteres til legen.

Livstruende reaksjoner er svært sjeldne. Dette er tegn på en alvorlig reaksjon:

  • Brått innsettende kløe i nesen, øynene, halsen, ørene eller huden
  • Kortpustethet og hvesende pust
  • Tetthet i brystet
  • Elveblæst og kløe i håndflater

Alvorlige reaksjoner oppstår nesten alltid innen 30 minutter etter sprøytesettingen. Derfor må du alltid vente så lenge med å forlate vaksinekontoret. Merker du noen av nevnte symptomer, må du varsle straks. Legekontoret hvor vaksinene settes, kan behandle disse reaksjonene. Behandlingen innebærer en sprøyte med adrenalin og et antihistamin.
