Amøbiasis: Diagnosen

Innhold i artikkelen

Opphold i tropiske eller subtropiske strøk i løpet av de siste måneder er en forutsetning for å få sykdommen. Symptomer som diaré, magesmerter, vekttap, redusert allmenntilstand gir grunnlag for å mistenke tilstanden.

Diagnosen stilles på grunnlag av avføringsprøver og blodprøver, noe som for de aller fleste er tilstrekkelig diagnostikk. I noen tilfeller vil det være aktuelt å se opp i endetarmen med rektoskop/kolonoskop for å utelukke annen sykdom. Røntgen og ultralyd kan også være aktuelle undersøkelser.
