Bakkebasert medisinsk støtte
Kabinpersonalet har deltatt i førstehjelpskurs. De får dessuten jevnlig trening i hjertelungeredning og bruk av hjertestarter.
Fordi det ikke er helsepersonell ombord blant de ansatte på flyet, har de fleste flyselskaper kontrakt med en bakkebasert medisinsk tjeneste som kan konsulteres i forbindelse med akuttmedisinske hendelser.

Ved en akuttmedisinsk hendelse ombord i et fly varsles piloten som etablerer kontakt via radio eller satelitt med bakkestasjonen. En kabinansatt formidler informasjonen til og fra det bakkebaserte medisinske senteret.
