Prestasjonsfrem. midler og idrett: Kreatin

Kreatintilskudd er vist å ha en viss prestasjonsfremmende effekt blant yngre menn som driver med vektløfting, men en slik effekt var fraværende hos kvinner og blant personer over 60 år25. En annen studie viste noe forbedrete resultater ved utøvelse av eksplosive øvelser av kortere enn 30 sekunders varighet, mens det ikke hadde noen fremmende effekt blant løpere og svømmere26.

Korttidsbruk, 3-5 dager, fører til vektøkning på grunn av økt mengde kroppsvann. Langtidsbruk viste få eller ingen bivirkninger27.
