Antidepressivt nedtrappingssyndrom: Årsaker

Det finnes ingen sikker forklaring på antidepressiva nedtrappingssyndrom. Det finnes ikke systematisk innsamlede data, men syndromet synes kun unntaksvis å forekomme dersom behandlingstiden er kortere enn seks til åtte uker. Risikoen er økt ved bruk av preparater med forholdsvis kort nedbrytingstid (eks. paroksetin) sammenlignet med de med lang nedbrytningstid (eks. fluoksetin).
