Ganglion: Årsak

Årsaken til dannelse av ganglion er ikke sikkert kjent. Sannsynligvis er forklaringen at det har dannet seg en utposning med utspring fra leddkapselen i hånd- eller fingerledd, eller fra seneskjeden som holder senene på plass rundt håndleddet. Det kan foreligge en medfødt disposisjon. En risikofaktor synes å være gjentatt ensidig belastning av håndleddet.
