Årsaker til granuloma annulare

Årsaken til granuloma annulare er ukjent, men hudsykdommen er rapportert å kunne oppstå etter skader, kreftsykdom, virusinfeksjoner, insektbitt og tuberkuløse hudtester. Forskerne mener det kan foreligge en forsinket type overømfindtlighetsreaksjon, uten at det er bevist. Det er antydet en sammenheng også med type-2 diabetes, men dette er usikkert.
