Symptomer på systemisk sklerose

Systemisk sklerose kan medføre mange ulike symptomer og funn. Den skader huden og indre organer, og symptomer og tegn vil derfor variere fra pasient til pasient, avhengig av utbredelsen av sykdommen. Eksempler er:

  • Hudforandringer og hudkløe er vanlig. Vanlige lokalisasjoner er armer, ansikt, hals, fingre. Sår på fingertuppene er et viktig funn.
  • Raynaud fenomener er vanlig. Dette vises ved avbleking av hendene når de utsettes for kulde. Det oppstår smerter i fingrene, de blir blå (cyanotiske) og blir deretter svært blodrike.
  • Svelgevansker. Vansker med å svelge fast føde kan etter en tid følges av vansker med å svelge flytende føde. Ledsages gjerne av kvalme, brekninger, vekttap, magesmerter, diaré og vansker med å holde på avføringen.
  • Kortpust ved anstrengelser, senere også i hvile.
  • Irritasjonshoste.
  • Ukarakteristiske brystsmerter, slapphet, høyt blodtrykk.
  • Leddsmerter, nedsatt bevegelighet, leddhevelse, muskelsmerter. Tilstanden begynner som leddsmerter hos 15%, som muskelbetennelse hos ti prosent.
  • Genrell svakhet foreligger hos 80 prosent.
