Angina pectoris - når bør du søke hjelp

Dersom du opplever brystsmerter som du tror skriver seg fra hjertet, bør du kontakte helsepersonell raskt for å få dette vurdert.

Dersom du har hatt angina en stund, og anfallet med brystsmerter er likt det du har hatt før, er det trolig ikke nødvendig å søke hjelp. I slike tilfeller følger du de rådene som har fungert bra før.

Nyoppståtte brystsmerter

Allerede på telefonen kan trenet personell gi gode vurderinger og råd om hva du bør gjøre videre - og om de finner det nødvendig, kan de sørge for at en ambulanse henter deg. Ved beskjedne plager kan du ringe fastlegekontoret eller legevakten. Ved sterke brystsmerter, kvalme og uvelhet bør du ringe 113.

Om du opplever plager eller smerter som er fremmede for deg, kan det være tryggere å ringe én telefon for mye, enn å vente lenge på at plagene skal gi seg. Skulle det vise seg at dette er et hjerteinfarkt, er tidsfaktoren svært viktig. Med tidlig behandling kan skadene av infarktet begrenses betydelig. Dersom AMK-personalet (113-telefonen) ikke vurderer dette som alvorlig, vil de gi råd og eventuelt henvise videre til legevakten eller legekontor.

Ambulansepersonell har også trening i å behandle både anginaanfall og hjerteinfarkt, og de vil raskt kunne gi deg trygg og god behandling når det er nødvendig.

Jeg har allerede angina pectoris

Dersom du har hatt angina en stund, og anfallet med brystsmerter er likt det du har hatt før, er det vanligvis ikke nødvendig å søke hjelp. I slike tilfeller følger du de rådene som har fungert bra før. Disse rådene innebærer å ta det med ro, om mulig stanse den aktiviteten som utløser anfallet (for eksempel snømåking) og å ta nitroglyserin.

Kontakt helsepersonell dersom du opplever at smertene/ubehaget er forskjellig, eller kanskje sterkere, enn hva du er vant med. F.eks.

  • Hvis mindre anstrengelser skal til for å utløse anfall
  • Hvis anfallet kommer under hvile
  • Hvis hvile ikke hjelper
  • Hvis nitroglycerin ikke hjelper

Dersom du fremdeles er usikker på hva du skal gjøre, bør du alltid kontakte helsepersonell. Det er for slike tilfeller vi har en nødtelefon - 113, den er ikke bare for ulykker og skader! Om du opplever plager som kan stamme fra hjertet, bør du ikke kjøre bil til sykehuset eller legen selv, men ring heller nødtelefonen slik at de kan arrangere med transport. Ved å kjøre selv utsetter du ikke bare deg selv for fare, men også alle rundt deg.

Dersom du ikke har angina, men tror at du står i fare for å utvikle sykdommen, bør du oppsøke fastlegen din for å se om du er i risikosonen. Sammen kan dere finne ut hva som eventuelt bør gjøres for å forebygge at du rammes av sykdommen.
