Allergiutredning av barn: Provokasjonsundersøkelser

Matvareallergi

Diagnosen matvareallergi kan ikke stilles ved hudprikktest og/eller ved påvisning av spesifikt IgE fordi prøvene er for unøyaktige. Ved uttalte og alvorlige plager må en slik diagnose bekreftes ved såkalte eliminasjons- og provokasjonsforsøk med aktuelle matvare.

Inhalasjonsallergi

Ved full overensstemmelse mellom sykehistorien og resultatene fra prikktest og/eller måling av spesifikt IgE, er det normalt ikke grunn til allergenprovokasjon. I tvilstilfeller kan slike provokasjoner være nødvendige før ev. spesifikk behandling. Organprovokasjoner kan vanligvis gjennomføres først når barnet kan samarbeide, som regel fra 5-6 årsalderen. Testene gjennomføres ved at allergener i små doser påføres øynene eller pustes inn gjennom nese og luftveier.
