Vi regner at 1/3 av tilfellene med infertilitet skyldes feil hos mannen, 1/3 feil hos kvinnen og 1/3 en kombinasjon av mann og kvinne.

Studier har vist at sædcellekonsentrasjonen hos menn er avtatt betydelig over de siste 50 årene. Konsekvensen blir at den gjennomsnittlige tiden det tar for et par å oppnå graviditet, har økt.
